No wonder Windows works, and looks, like it does!

And this, my friends, is why we struggle with our Windows boxes!!! Note that I say OUR windows boxes - even though I am a Mac user I do have two Windows machines (one is my wife's computer that constantly needs TLC, the other is a work laptop - a little Acer 6292, since the day I've had it ONE thing has never worked... Sadly, it is never the same thing... Some days the wifi won't work, other days the mouse stops responding, sometimes it won't boot into vista... The list goes on and on!) Except for Windows it is an incredible little machine. If only I could put Ubuntu on it. But, it's a work machine. So, it goes off to the IT department fairly frequently. Thankfully I have my Macbook - it just works! I saw at the new Dion Wired store in Somerset West that they're selling Macbooks (brand new!) for R7999! That is comparable to a Windows notebook of the same spec!

Well, here's a video of Windows CEO, Steve Balmer at a Microsoft conference.

Windoze is the worst I own a Mac and work on both at work so I can say that. On top of this have you seen how bad their ad campaign is for the Windoze 7 operating system is?

Son Matthew says that Windows is simply non-functional, period. I myself am dropping this comment using a Linux netbook. Like your Mac, Linux just works (although it gets a bit complicated when one makes changes to "the constellation of things"). Incidentally one can place Ubuntu on a 2GB flash drive and boot up a netbook/laptop off it. With this in mind, Linux is popular for reviving old laptops whose hard drives have failed.

Hi Grant and Thomas,

Thank you for your comments! Indeed, there is something that 'goes wrong' with large corporations - perhaps the instinct to survive leads to innovation, and maybe that gets lost when you become the monopoly in your industry?

Thomas, I have an old Sony notebook that runs Ubuntu here at home. I allow my daughter to use it for playing 'barbie' games online. It has breathed new life into the old machine!

As I mention in this post my wife Megan is not quite ready to move from her Windows computer to a Mac. Although each time it hangs, looses some data, refuses to boot up, or gets bogged down by virus software she gets a little closer to making the move from the dark side!

Blessings,

Dion
