Mvume Dandala - World Methodist Council keynote address on Reconciliation
Sunday, July 23, 2006 at 2:33AM
Dr Mvume Dandala, a past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, now the President of the All Africa Council of Churches, delivered an extremely challenging keynote address.
He pulled no punches, addressing issues such as exploitation of Africa by rich and powerful nations, the pandemic of HIV / AIDS and the Church's lack of concern for true unity and reconciliation.

you're it
is this an old photograph - or did Mvume arrive as a Bishop?
Dion, what happened with the Lutheran-Catholic-Methodist joint statement on justification at the Conference? Can you share a bit about that?
Pete,
Yup, this is an old Photo. He arrived, spoke as, and presented hismelf simply as a minister. It was quite refreshing!
Wes,
Indeed the joint statment was signed by a Cardinal from the Catholic Church, a Bishop from the Lutherans, and a 'Prelate' from the Methodist Church. After the historic moment we celebrated in a joint service. It was very moving.
The statement is the same as the one that we had sight of, and gave approval to, in the 'cul de sac' (AKA DEWCOM).
So, Wes, how is your paper going for the 'Reading Karl Barth in Southern Africa Today' Conference?!
